The implementation of the new primary mathematics curriculum, in particular Age Related Expectations (ARE) and Teaching for Mastery have huge implications for primary and secondary colleagues, with regards to transition.

A clear view of where students are mathematically from one year group the the next and when students are ready to move on are key to successful transition.

Whilst there is lots of focus on primary phase currently, we need to ensure that this progress does not stop when students get to secondary phase. 

Multiplicative Reasoning is vital in ensuring that students achieve their potential in their GCSEs and beyond.

Through this work group, we aim to ensure cross-phase collaboration and a greater understanding the journey for all phases, with a specific focus on multiplicative reasoning across the age ranges.
