One of the Maths Hub Strategic Priorities for 2019/20 is to 'develop the knowledge and practice of Early Years Foundation Stage practitioners, to ensure that all pupils develop a secure foundation in mathematics  in Key Stage 1'.

One of the key issues for the development of mathematics is the quality of training that practitioners have receive prior to entering the profession. This was identified in the Maths in Early Years Education Report (2015) and Bold Beginnings (2018). The development of Early Years Subject Knowledge has been a key aspect of hub work and continues to be an important area for development.  

This year we are leading the following work groups:

Early Years Reception to Year 1 Transition Work Group (Bristol)

EYFS Teacher Research Group (TRG)

We also have two cohorts of our Early Years Action Research Work Group in Bristol and Wiltshire - sign up through Innovation Work Groups
